Hot glue on wood case for mounting?

I am trying to mount LED's onto the sides of my cedar wood case and was wondering if someone knew a good trick for it.

I am planning on using a hot glue gun! Will that stick adequatly over time??

That's typically what I do, especially on plastic cases, I've seen plenty of commercial equipment do the same. If you use a big enough wad of glue it will never come off. Something that you can do is sink a couple of staples or nails with the heads raised above the surface just next to where the led will be. When you apply the hot glue use enough to flow around the nailhead. That will lock the hardened glue in place, in case it doesn't adhere well to the wood.

Silicone (sp) works very well also. We have used it here at work for years.
Also any RTV (Gasket making stuff) from Auto parts store will work too.

Seconded, silicone sealer works great and is easily removed.

Hot melt glue has stuck so well to my wooden frame, it once took a sliver of wood when I removed it. It sinks into the grain.

Though LED's don't get hot, I have carelessly used hot melt glue on components that get hot , you can imagine what happened
