If I wish to put a GC Amp and a pre-amp in the same case, is it possible to use the same power supply to drive both?
Are there drawbacks to doing this? |

You can. See the LM317 and LM337 datasheets or do a search on this site. there are lots of schematics and even pcb layouts. Remember to use heatsinks.
The best would be to have seperate PSU's but for some it's overkill. That's what I'd like to do. PS LM317 and LM337 are better than LM78xx and LM79xx. |

What is the PSU voltage in your GC at idle?

Sorry. That could be a problem. You must look at the max voltage ratings for the voltage regulators. That's another reason LM317/337 is better than LM78xx/79xx.
