Default Stacking Amp Inputs Into A Speaker

I built my 2 channel chip amp and love it (LM4780) but also use my main fronts for home theater with another 5 channel amp. I am getting annoyed switching out the wires so I was wondering...

Since my banana plug connenctors are stackable, would there be any harm caused by having both amps plugged into the speaker at all times?

Will I cause any damage to the amps and/or speakers?

What would happen if both amps ended up running at the same time? Would that be a huge problem?

Trying to play it safe,
Dominick

i wouldnt do that. it could kill your HT amp or your amp or both.

maybe for convenience you could make a relay circuit in a box so that when you turn on the amp the ht speaters are switched to the main amp.

or you could just set it up so the main speakers are always connected to the new amp and the HT left and tright always go through your new amp (but ht has to have pre outputs) that way you will always have better sound even when listening to TV or movies

even if the HT reciever doesnt have a pre out you could probably minimise its crappiness by running it across a voltage devider into one of the inputs of your amp. it might sound better. most crappy amps work better in to a 1000ohm resistor than a actual speaker

that is last resort solution though and definately not "hi fi" some HT systems leave you no choice.

some of them actually use car amp chips in the box.
