Default what kind of wire do I use?

What kind of wire (guage, etc) is best for connections between my rectifier board and my lm3875 board, and in fact everything else in that project? thanks

Ali B.

I would use generic stranded copper. Nothing fancy is needed, but pay attention to where you route the wires!! That will have a MUCH greater impact on how your amp sounds that any specialty wires.

I use Carol 18awg stranded copper.
Its inexpensive and well insulated.
Not sure if you are using a kit or not, but Brian Bell (BrianGT) uses these wires and recomended them to me, they work perfectly with his kit. I originally bought Parts Express's hook up wire, but it didn't fit well because it is 16awg and the insulation was not as good.

Hi,
It is often stated that you need thicker and as short as possible wire from main filter caps to ICs.In my setup , i use approx 8-9 AWG wire. However , it is hard to solder.I think something between 14-15 AWG would be optimum.
Other wires are not so important.

Something else I don;t see mentioned is thta it is often advantageous to use a thinner guage wire from the ground on your input to whereever it connects to...

That's pretty funny! Here is a picture of one of my rolls of wire (all are the same, just different color insulation)
