Stupid question. I am rigging up a LM3886 amp to power a monitor speaker, and I was wondering what would heppen if the speaker cable were to become unplugged while running. Would the thing melt to slag, or would it simply stop the current flow and be fine? Just wondering if I should build in some protetion like a dummy load or something.
As I understand it, there is only danger in bridge mode.. which I am not using, but I want to be sure. Thanx.

The current would stop, and the amp would be fine. Even in bridge mode, if the speaker becomes unplugged, same scenario. The only danger in bridge mode is if a speaker output (either + or -) is shorted to ground. Then the amp would have a hard time driving current to a short circuit.
