HI
I want to start a project and i am thinking of a buffer. The main reason for this is that i want to use it betwwin my cd player,pc-soundcard and my amps(1paire rev a, 1paire rev c) for passive bi-amping the 2 front speakers.I am planing to use two y type rca connectors from the source to the buffer and from the one amp output (rev a) to the woofers and from the other amp (rev c) to the mid, tweters. My amps input input impedance is 100K. Is the use of a buffer critical here? Is the y rca connectors a good choice? Is there a beter way to go? What schematic will you recommend simple to build ONLY WITH OPAMPS? Thanks |

I'm hoping to use Decibel Dungeon's schematic for a discrete buffer. It's simple, and supposed to be quite good.

You may not need a buffer unless one of the amps has a low input impedance.
An easy op amp circuit would be a versatile preamp kit from a general electronics shop. They should also have a power supply kit. If you feel up to it thought, try spasticteapot's idea first. |

Hi
Many thanks to all for replying I did passive bi-amp my speakers without the use of a buffer and i have to say there is NO WAY BACK!!!I can now hear sounds in some tracks that i didint hear befor. The dynamics are far more beter.Although i spend some hard time to adjust the polaritys after that i was very pleased with the result. Something i cant understan is that i had to connect the right speaker tweter in reverse otherwise the high frequencys was cliping with the volume at half.Any ideas way??? I am very curious if the buffer will inprove more.I will tray it wen i find the time to make the buffer from Dungeon's schematic. |
