Adding a power button

Hi all,

I'm new to gainclone and I'm waiting for delivery of my LM3886 kit and transformer. I went to my local electronics store to pick up some items and I wanted get a power button, but I'm not sure what amp to get. The fellow at the store asked me if I wanted a 2 amp, 3 amp or 10 amp switch. What do I need to get?

get the highest rated one that will look ok. although the amp itself may not normally draw much current, when you first switch it on there is "inrush" current which can be a lot more than what it actually uses.

even a 10a switch can be very small anyways.

Each of those chips can command about 11A

Actually I didn't. It's a single pole. What want is a switch or button to turn power on or off. Can you recommend what I should get and maybe where to purchase it.

Ok, I did some searching and I've found what I want. Please tell if THESE is going to have a high enough amps for the LM 3886 chips. I'm looking at the RA and RC series of Rocker switches.

I have found that 6A switches usually break up in a year or so, due to large surge currents when toroid transformer is turned on.

You can try using a soft-on circuit.They are sometimes sold in electronic supply shops.
