I am ready to give building a chip amp a try, and hope to be ordering one of the kits off of chipamp.com soon. Each of the three projects look doable, but which one should I choose? LM4780, LM3886 or LM 3875? I haven't really found a good explanation of the differences between these three kits. I don't need an extremely powerful amp, just something very clean and detailed, I'm driving a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 8.2's rated at 6 ohms.

LM3875 is or will soon be obsolete and less available.
The LM4780 is two LM3886s in one device.

I just did my first amp project as well. I literally just finished and I did the dual mono LM 4780 kit which might drive your speakers nicely.
I also suggest that you buy from Peter Daniel. His kits are nice and for a first timer, he is a big help. Also, I am at your disposal. I'd love to help. Just shoot me an e-mail. Peter Daniel: audiosector.com Dominick in New Jersey
