Default Transformer Help

I have a LM 4780 amp chip kit which is virtually complete, but I am struggling to find a transformer (torroidial preferred) that has the correct specs. Yes, I am very new at this, but I have made strides and will complete this project provided I connect it to a fitting transformer.

The kit calls for a 300 VA transformer running at 22v.

I found one close on the parts express site which runs at 350 VA...but at 55 volts.

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=129-095

QUESTION: Will this suffice the project? I know that the over rating for the VA is ok but is the 55 voltage rating ok or will I just fry all my hard work?

ANY ADVICE, SUGGESTIONS, OR WEB LINKS WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL.
Thanks,
Dominick---I will post pics of the final project!

Default transformer help

Is this a single LM4780 or parralled?? 300VA is fine for either one.
parts express# 122-640 will work fine, its 330VA 25+25 and will give you a rectified voltage of about 35V+-

Thanks for the info so quickly...This is for 2 mono amp kits(each is wired in parallel) so I guess I will need to buy two of the amps you suggested? right?
Thanks,
Dominick

No one trans should do it. You will find vary different points of view on power supply overkill in the chip amp forum, but each parelled lm4780 will produce 120 watts both chanels will consume 240watts 330VA still gives you 100 watts of power" supply head room" without the transformer sagging.

tiltedhalo,

Thank you so much for lending your knowledge. I ordered the transformer today so I am hoping to have it by wednesday. Maybe I will have the entire project completed by friday.

Thanks again,
