Gentlemen,
may I turn your attention to an Excel spreadsheet I created for the calculation of resistor values for stepped attenuators in shunt (i.e. voltage divider) architecture. This is the type of attenuator Nuuk describes on his excellent website to use with his Gainclone (pre). The spreadsheet allows to take an input ground resistor or additional parallel ground resistor (for break-before-make switches) into account. You can calculate the resistor values according to the desired attenuation steps and, in a second step, recalculate the attenuation curve with any (standard) resistor values. It also calculates the impedance of the attenuator for each switch position. The file is of course also accessible through my website . Please feel free to play with the spreadsheet. I am grateful for your comments or suggestions. Mick |
