I am building up a bridged (or parallel...dunno yet) lm3886 amp, and I want to milk as much wattage as I can from the suckers, so I'd like to put around 36v on them. I rigged up a bipolar power suply from a 24-0-24 3A (144VA) tranny I had to test out one of them. I got about 35.4 volts loaded and found it to me most deficient in the current department...sag city!
So I guess I need Something more like a 25-0-25 4A tranny for each chip... or a single 25-0-25 8A for the pair. I'd even go with two 25-0 trannies at 4A each if it is cheaper. Anyone have a good source for cheap trannys like this other than cannabalizing old printers?

Try ApexJr?
I'm sitting on a whack of 12VAC ~6A trafos (estimate based on the 20VA/ib rule of thumb). You'd need to stack 4 for your application. dave
