24 V center tap is 12-0-12 volts AC if you want to run split rails. That would give you about +/- 16.5 volts after rectification.

Or, you could in theory run two identical 24V transformers and ignore the center tap entirely, for an effective 300VA available power and ~34V rails.
But that's not often cost-effective. Wes

seahag,
which model number are you looking at? hammond has a useful page here http://www.hammondmfg.com/5CHook.htm see also http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/nuukspot/...ncloneFAQ.html http://www.audiosector.com/nigc_kit-users_guide.pdf dual secondaries to two bridges is more usual for gainclones btw, not ct. like this, http://gainclone.com/invertedLM3875_r2_1.gif if you want +-24 at the chip after rectification and capacitance, divide by 1.4 to get 17. so something like 182G18 or 182N18 then. http://www.hammondmfg.com/182.htm |

Nice. I thought so. Its been about a year since i built my first gainclone.
Didnt really size the transformer right (120 va) and only used one bridge for 2 channels. I want to do it a little better this time.. been thinking about that improved 3886 project thats getting most popular ![]() comments? Thanks guys. -------------------------------------------- |
