My Portable Gainclone (pics)

Here's a portable gainclone I made. Think of it as a fancy boombox. It has an LM4752 which is an 11W (per channel) stereo amp. I didn't want to use something more powerful since it would have taken an even larger battery. It runs off 6 built in li-ion cells (connected in series). It's also got mic inputs as you can see for Kareoke and a built-in automatic FM scan radio. I also added a replaceable fuse and a fan. It has RCA outputs as well to hook up another speaker or connect another amp. The speakers are top-quality, my absolute favorite-Infinity car speakers. I actually have seven of these in my car as well. They are the best sounding speakers out there for under $100 a pair. The box isn't too fancy since I'm no carpenter and this is the first thing I've ever made out of wood. I think it turned out pretty well though, and I'm going to touch it up some more. Nice to see something more unusual, although you might want to reassess your best sounding driver pair sub $100. There are some impressive fullrange drivers available in that price range.

Any pics of the internals? Kinda looks like a pair of turntables

They pretty much are full range. They cover 53hz-21khz. And $100 is what they cost retail (actually I think it's a little more) but I paid about $40 for em.

It's pretty ugly inside since I wanted to use a lot of wood glue to keep everything permanantly in place. It's a great adhesive though. Here are the pics of the inside:

Excellent work and creativity. This is what the hobby is about.

I have tried a powering some headphone amps with Lipo batteries with good success getting nearly +/-12 driving AD8620.

thanks for the complements guys I spent a dreadfully long time on this project. At full power (22 watts rms) the batteries last around 2 hours (since it's a 24v 2amp pack). Of course, I rarely play it full blast so I get many hours off of it. I'm making a new charger for it as well which should charge the whole thing in 2 hours flat.

hey I just saw your project nice work for a first timer impressive the only thing I don’t like is the speakers (the brand is excellent) but it would be better to use splits, I work as an electronics technician and used to fit car audio I have seen many of those style of speaker sound bad because they get dirt and dust in the voice coil "there an open coil” there open to all foreign matter.

Otherwise awesome I want one, great work and keep learning like me
