Can I start my LM3876 amplifier up to +-35 VDC without any load or source?

It won't hurt it not to have a load, but you may want to short the inputs if you want to test for offset and such, Still it should start ok even with nothing conneced on either end. 35V rails should be just fine as long as you have adequate heatsink. I use a 1000VA variac(a variable transformer) when I test amps as I can slowly turn up the voltage on the first power up. It has saved me a few times in the past. ![]() Cheers! Russ
