Default New Fully Integrated LM3886 GC

Finished my integrated LM3886 GC at last. It's a low cost, fully integrated 20W+20W with preamp, buffer and PSU onboard.

It's designed to be low-cost as it's intended for my computer gaming speakers. Yet it sounds really good and lab measurements show max power at 30W RMS per channel and 0.0V DC offset. With the preamp section bypassed, it's totally noise/hiss free at the output.

I put everything on the PCB (even transformer & heatsink) as I wanted to drop it into a small, low profile case.

If anyone's interested, I have schematics, PCB layout and lab measurement data that I can post. There's also a few bare PCB's left from the proto build.

Thanks for looking.

PS: Sorry for the low-res pic. Had to take in a hurry.

Here's an overview of the PCB layout. Ground plane is on the bottom layer and is not shown.

Very nice. Should make for a very compact little amp. Did you have a chassis in mind when you started? Also, what tranny did you use?

Electrically good!!
Mechanically..POOR design..
Whats the point in having the Tranny on the PCB? hope it will not break the PCB...Single module look? what about the PCB space wasted?

You mean the transformator?

(I'm asking because "tranny" makes me think of a transistor which usually isn't misplaced on a PCB.)

O_o the transformer question.

It's only a 80VA part (more than ample for 20W + 20W output) so it's weight it's not a problem.

The main reason I wanted the transformer on the PCB is that this design will also be built by some students that I am mentoring. Some of them have a tendency to run the amp as it is and I didn't want any AC wires dangling for safety reasons.

I left my documentation at my work PC so I'll post schematics and such on Monday if anyone's interested. Thought it'll make a nice first time project for newbies.
