Hi all,
I would like to add a vol port to this circuit! 1) What value of vol port (10K, 50k 100K.....) should i use & how to connect them up? 2) Do i need to add any resistor to the input of this circuit? Cheers, frequency |

I would suggest using a pot at the input - put the signal in one end and ground at the other end. Take the output from the wiper. It would be best to use a buffer after the pot to make sure and provide the amp with a low impedance source and prevent and loading of the pot. Also, You may want to use an op amp to create a buffer with the pot from - to ground, which will allow adjustment of gain and keep the pot out of the signal path. Your choice
![]() The value of the pot will change the maximum attenuation because, ideally, if the wiper is at the top [visualize all the pot's resistance tied to ground], no signal will be lost across the pot. 20k has provided plenty of attenuation for me in the past. 10k is fine also, but you may want more attenuation. 50k may make the volume control a bit touchy. But any will work and it will really depend on the amp and load how much attentuation you want vs. how touchy the knob is. I suggest starting with 20k. |
