Default pga2311

Hi

I am playing around this chip and made a program in a pic, and it works great, but sometimes, it makes noise (in the analog output) and gets very hot ! I have to turn everything off, and it works again (until it decides to make the same mishap)

I have no idea why it gets hot, owhat triggers it. I use .1 caps near the chips, use regulated +/- 5 volts...

any iideas ?

thanx

Could be caused by static or other overvoltage causing latch-up.

Hi Mike, thank you for such an enlightened response, I was really not aware of this phenomenon. (I am a analog guy).
I will use the diode in series option.

For this latchup matter, what is better, use a separate 5v supply for the digital supply, or share it with the analog one ? I guess for the sake of digital noise it's better separated, I have not noticed any noise sharing both supplies.

I will acquire latchupfobia !! I have burned several chips...

thanks again for your great response

regards

Alex

Default pga2311 latch-up problems

I already have this problem with this chip and like wakibaki writed, it's a latch-up problem!

The datasheet doesn't talk about this problem but the cs3310's one, an equivalent design, is more explicite!
