Adam,
I asked myself all those questions not to long ago. Read this, im sure you'll find it interesting: *technical elec question* DC offset/input impedance relation There is also some more spread out info in random threads about fake-lawing you can search for (one thread called something like "so i did try all those potentiometers" started by peter daniel). After reading through that, if your still interested in fake-law and still have some questions, ill be glad to help.
