I don't think it's used in any amp...
I came up with the idea when everybody told me that it's a big "no-no" to use big caps with the gainclone...
I like big caps
so something had to be done 
I actually know very little about electronics, but I have worked a lot with hydraulics and this is more or less like a accumulator and the diodes are like the check valves (with a small pressure drop, opening pressure, to balance out the spring force in the check valve...)
