I'd like to get folks opinions about customizing chip amps for specific frequency ranges (I'm driving the Linkwitz Orion system).
Right now I have 4 of Brian's 4780 boards driving below 120Hz. These boards are fed from a single bridge, with 2 30,000uF caps, then stock caps on the amp boards. I use a pair of 4780 boards from 120 to 1400Hz and another pair above 1400Hz. Right now all these are fed from a single bridge with stock caps on the amp boards. All passives are basic kit level, I use a single 48vct 1000VA tranny, and the sound is pretty darn good, but... Where will upgrade dollars be well spent? A Carlosfm supply for the mids? Upgraded components on the mids and highs? Interested in your thoughts and experiences. |
