Default Define "snubber"

Hello all,

As one relatively new to the DIY gainclone, I've been following very closely some of the wild arguments going on here--quite heated for a non-valve forum, I might remark--about the best mods to the basic chipamp topologies.

One thing that causes the most rejoicing, even amidst great angst and intra-chipamp-enthusiast strife, is the snubber.

However, I have not seen the definition of snubber, nor a picture. I know that it goes on the bridge somewhere. And I know that it unleashes the tamed frequencies in the basic LM3875 designs, But that's all. What's a snubber?

Thanks,
Dave

Well, now I know why there was no definition in the forum discussions.
