I've been looking around this forum trying to find a cheap chip-based amp for some speakers I want to build (I'll probably be doing the GR research AV-1 kit).
It seems that the gainclone is a good project for a beginner? Are there any other cheap (maybe under 30-40 bucks) solutions out there?
How do the cheap gainclones compare to that sonic impact t-amp I keep hearing about?
I've built many opamp-based headphone amps but I've never done an amp for speakers before. Just wondering if there was a "CMOY" of speaker amps over here.

Have a look at chipamp.com. BrianGT and Peter Daniel, both members of this forum, have developed this kit which may help you get started. In addition to the kit you will need a transformer or 2, and an enclosure.
There is plenty of advice here for these kits. Just do a search on this forum for BrianGT kit.
