Isnt this the ugliest one yet? lol.
![]() anyway. this amp here was supposed to be briged, but i ran into alot of problems. first of all, i dont have a schematic for briging, and when I first powered this little puppy up, a catastophy happened. first, the primary on the transformer goes. that made me mad, so I had found an old 30-0-30 trans from an old projection TV, it powered the STK IC in the TV. then, to fit the amp in the box, I had to run wires from the pins of the lm3886 to the perfboard. well, when i powered it up with the new transformer, the heatsink got red hot in a couple of secs, and it didnt smell good, it smells like the old rotten eggs when a transistor blows. i didnt see smoke, and after I investigated the circuit, i had pins 1 through 11 backwards! pin 1 was pin 11 pin 2 was pin 10 and pin 3 was pin 9, so on so on. well, im sure that spike and overture didnt protect this one! I just stuck my other chip in, and rewired it the other way, and it worked. im not going to try the old chip again, im pretty sure its dead. dont you suppose? the pocket TV has a battery pack, which im using to power the fan. the fan is from an old ps2. the box with heatsink came from an old dead scooter speed controller. i had to drill mounting holes, and mount the chip directly on the heatsink, because the perpendicular fin that the to-220 transistors were orignially mounted on, wasnt transferring the heat fast enough, and the spike kept kicking in badly. after working out the kniks, the amp works great! the heatsink stays cool, since the fan runs at 7000rpm, and i can run that thing ito clipping all day, without spike problems. i think its the worlds smallest 60w amp, who knows. lol. What do you think? |
