Is the following xfrmr a "best choice" for the briangt LM3875 gainclone (two monos or stereo):
Hammond Mfg #182P22 Toroidal Power Transformer 117/234 VAC dual primary 50/60 hz 225 VA 22v x 2 dual secondary@10.22A (5.11A x 2) 4.97" x 1.9" 4.96 lb http://www.hammondmfg.com/182.htm Seems to be best choice for driving 4, 6 or 8 ohms and getting max power without pushing the envelope, but want a second opinion. Any concern about the dual primary, not sure how to wire it - just use only one pair? If selected, will most likely work with David (previous post) and do a group buy for all interested - to be advised next week... First need to find best fit... |

I'm guessing that it should be fine; I've heard of people running GCs on 160VA and/or 18V, which may be a bit low anyway...
With regards to the primaries, for the 110-115vac that you have in the US, you will need to wire them in parallel. (And in series for 220-240v elsewhere in the world.)
