I understand that there are many chassis questions answered everyday and I've done my best to read as many as possible but would like you all's opionions.
I was planning on using a wood chassis, not only for better looks, but because I can work with wood, not with metal. I've read quite a few posts about the different sounds of different chassis, some say metals sound better, some say woods. People have also said that heat sinks will change the sound also. Something interesting that i found was that if the spikes (I'm going to call them) are all different heights/ lengths they wont change the sound. I'd like to build a chassis out of wood, probably like 1/4" plybirtch, but could line some on the interior with copper giving it a better sound. I wanted one heatsink for both lm3875s and could cut the spikes to different lengths and have the heat sink out the back of the amp to cool easily. I was looking at using this heat sink here it is . I was also reading about I was also reading about RFI and EMI filters, but didn't understand the thread, sould I purchase something like this I'm very open to suggestions, but I would like to build the chassis myself and I'de like for it to be cheap (have very limited tools) Thanks, Josh |
