Default Another New Gainclone!

Folks:

I just completed four identical integrated Gainclone amps and it seemed appropriate to thank everyone who contributes to this forum for your help (whether intentional or not). As a newbie, I never would have undertaken this project had it not been for the wealth of information (mostly instructive) and controversy (mostly entertaining) that appear here. I'd especially like to thank Brian Bell, whose advice and PCBs were remarkably helpful, and Horace Atkinson of iagaudio.com, from whom I purchased the four chasses I needed. Mr. Atkinson's products are extraordinary and the attached photos simply do not do them justice (the mirror-like finish is gorgeous). I have no affiliation with Brian Bell or iagaudio.com, but both are highly recommended for those in need of their products.

Thanks again to everyone!

Regards,
Scott

Default And Last Photo

And here is a photo of the front face. Incidentally, the on/off switch is a really nifty illuminated toggle switch from NKK; the tip of the toggle glows when the unit is powered up. Very cool!

Regards,
Scott

Very nice Scott!

Those cases are, as you say, very impressive. Are they expensive?

Smile Chassis

Nuuk:

No, I thought the price was quite reasonable. I used iagaudio.com's model CH-02, which sells for $110. I also paid to have the holes punched; using a simple CAD program, I laid out the holes on the front and rear faces, faxed the printouts to iagaudio and Horace Atkinson did the work for $40 per unit. It took a couple of months from the time I ordered the four units before they arrived.

The top and bottom panels are 0.125" thick and the front and rear panels are 0.1875" thick. The units come with aluminum feet (2" diameter, about 0.5" high) and felt pads to protect the underlying surface. This thing is extremely sturdy.

They also sell several other sized chasses.

Regards,
Scott

A friend got one of those cases for his hagertech coronet... they are gorgeous... i understand that at times it is necessary to be patient for your chassis to arrive.

Do you have a part number for that toggle switch? Where did you order it from? I'd like to get my hands on a couple of those

Thanks Scott. Yes, that is reasonable given the quality of the case. I would guess in the UK, we would be asked to pay at least half as much again for a similar item!
