Default Speakers to go with a GC

I can get these for under $50 new:
http://www.harmankardon.com/product_...KB%206&sType=C
i was wondering you opinion of them and if you think they would sound good connected to brians basic kit. I listen to all types of music. These would be in a small dorm room as computer speakers. I would like decent output but the room is not big. Any other suggestions? Im looking for something under $150. I dont have the ability to build boxes here at school but anything in a kit form with premade boxes would be great. Otherwise prebuilts are fine too.

Those speakers should make very good dorm room speakers, but don't expect huge output from them. Especially in the bass region. You might also want to take a look at these kits:

DAYTON SHIELDED BR-1 2-WAY MONITOR KIT PAIR
- or -
DAYTON BR-1 6-1/2" 2-WAY MONITOR KIT PAIR

They are both under $150 and will probably give you a bit better sound than the HK's.

Cheers,
Zach

Small rooms - small speakers, as simple as that.
You can have good bass in a small room, with a pair of small monitor speakers.
Big speakers in small places sound very bad.
Even with those HK speakers, if the place is small, you may find yourself filling the bass-reflex port with foam.

If a little more money can be invested, these are the ticket:

I built myself a pair of GR-Research T1s.

Nice fast bass response in a small room, and very dynamic and clean.

If you don't go overboard on expensive materials for the cabinets, you can build these for about $300.

Carlos, you are definately correct!

I have a small bandpass 8" sub using an lm3886 amp sitting in my small room in my basement (my electronics room). It is hooked up to the headphone port of a kenwood 120x2 amp, with 2 small speakers. I don't know the brand but they are model Baltic 30.

The system sounds amazing, with tons of bass, but if I try the sub in my large room, it does absolutely nothing.
