Yes, another proud as punch gainclone builder

Hi,

Thought you might like to check out my new Gainclone. It's my first amp project and has gone really well! There are some small things to complete, like adding another two channels, but all in all it's finished.

Sounds great, their is a lot less brightness that from my Yamaha HT receiver, much more bottom end detail and grab too. I'll have to do more critical listening but they're a great amp!

I have also done a small build diary which you can check out here if interested. Thanks all for the help - I've been lurking here for ages picking up pointers as I build.

Good work! I wish mine looked as good.
Yes, the best thing about gainclones is that you have something very good to use right away! I still am thinking about another kind of amp but never quite get it started- I have al the pieces though!

It seems like you have a space there for 4 more channels;), will try to send them to you ASAP.

Nicely done.

That's a nice tidy build, rnoble. -- I bet it runs nice and cool too!!

Where did you get your case & heatsinks from? That nice stuff is v. hard to find in NZ.

I have completed a 6 channel BrianGT clone, and am currently building a small 2 channel one for my workshop. Most of the bits come from Jaycar in NZ.

Which model Yamaha receiver do you have? I just ordered one of Brian's kits to build a gainclone. Wondering how it will sound compared to the Yamaha.

Hi digi01-

Please pardon my ignorance but what exactly is the BLD for?

Hey rnoble-

VERY nice case and build.

Constructive criticism: Why don't you cut two thirds off of the grd lead and spin it around on the grounding bolt to face the pwr input connector.

rabstg,
The BLD for bridge clone building.Meanwhile, it can drive a igc or nigc stereo amp, makes them work in the bridge.
For example,a standard BrianGT's 3875nigc can be connectd in bridge with the BLD.
if you have a couple of stereo GC amp, then it is can upgrade into dual mono 100W with 2 BLD's.

Hey digi01-

I will take this off line...

But I may be intrested in getting one/some.

Yes, yet another very good example of a GC - and yet another one from 'down under'! Is there a national GC building contest going on down there at the moment? :D
