Hi, I'm looking for a really small amplifer. Small enough to be built inside/behind a house wall.
I have a Slimp3/Squezebox device (www.slimdevices.com) that I will build in the wall in my living room. Further I will have two in-wall speakers (Boston DMi 250). To be able to get any sound of the speakers I need a amplifier between the music device and the speakers. This amplifiers I wish to hide inside the wall, invisible. No volume control nothing, it just amplifiers the signal to the speakers. This amp can be powerd by any sort of power, preferable 24V, any will do. The amplifier needs to be cheap(preferable less then 100$) since I need 5 of them since I have 5 rooms with the same setup (different music in each room, one slimdevice each). I hope someone can give me suggestions of such amplifier or applicable solution? Thanx, Fredrik |

small amp or big amp... you'll have a heat problem regardless. As long as it's completely hidden, you'll have thermal build-up. A small amp will do it slower than a big one, but temperature will rise.
Are you referring to 5 stereo amps or five channels? to me, it sounds like I'd take an ordinary amp and put on the attic (under the roof) ahere it'll get plenty of cooling, and you'll avoid making all the holes in the wall. This is all starting to sound very odd to me. Jennice

I know for fancy yachts and things they have these little amps that fit in an electrical box (with volume control sticking out the front). I have no idea where you would get them, but a guy I know who does electrical work on custom yachts has installed them before.
Never heard of anything like that for home use. Maybe it's something like this? http://www.homecontrols.com/cgi-bin/...95/prrfnbr/407 |
