Talking My gainclone is alive!

W00t W00t W00t

Assembled my amp today ( Design from scratch (LM3886) ), basically p2p (PSU board is not done yet, dont have the main caps), everything laying on the table, only one amp board connected

So far - idle output .3-.2mV, supply rails @ idle +/- 31.5V, everything is working (so far I powered the sub (4 ohm bandpass), it was easier ) the heatsink is hot, but not hot as in "cant hold my finger hot", but the heatsink is tiny (some 486 cpu sink I had laying around) at the moment, I scrapped a nice skived fin sink, it'll be OK on that one, I hope .

At the moment sub is happily shaking the room, but with this sink I cant do it for long, cause it'll overheat and shutdown eventually, bass is good I dont hear any apparent distortion or lack of power, no 50hz hum whatsoever, even with 1k caps on rails, amp is stable because RF bypass resistor-cap is cold, but I'll pull out my oscilloscope to verify that for sure and any other problems.

Cheers.

The bench setup
The case is commin any moment now, as soon as I'll get second trafo and aliuminium sheets (yeah the protection/delay circiut will be needed too cuz amp thumps on power on and on power off).

I'm still thinking which indicator I'll use the frosted blue or sxy green led or a cut out simbol of some kind.

How efficient is the speaker?

I guess if the sub was 8ohm then 2 3886 chips might be needed.

I have some blue LEDs that I will be using, but they can be annoying if they are too bright.

I drive the sub at the moment, I'll use this amp on my other speakers, I'll assemble another one with crossover and rumble filter, you can find my sub searching for it in loudspeaker by keywords VEC7OR and bandpass.
