Talking My firest Gainclone almost done (pics!)

With the inspiration from Vikash's case work and the help of the kind folks here I sorted the DC-offset and I have almost completed my GC case

I had to cut off the edge of the PCB to fit into the case I made:

Well done Max! But I guess that you are now aware that the case takes up 90% of the time to build an amp, and the GC the other 10%!

Nice job, Max! Looks good.
I like the look of the cut-outs in the top, over the fins.
Where did you get that sexy heatsink?

Tell me about it! When I was testing I whipped up a amp in about 10 mins but the case has taken me hours and hours as I have re done a couple of bits after mistakes. I had to go find another identical heatsink when I snapped a tap off in my orginal one its been more like 98%/2% for me

I got it from a scrap metal yard where I got all the metal. I got lucky and found a good one. NZD$5.

Ah yes, the 10 minute job knocking up something works well on a piece of old timber!

I'm building a GC for somebody else at present and have spent nearly three days preparing the case, or at least adapting an existing one. Next time somebody asks me to build a GC for them I will point them to the BYOB design and then convince them a GC will sound better on a plank of Spruce (or whatever I have in my woodpile).

Congratulations Max!, and good job on the healthly supply of pics too Looking forward to seeing and reading about your finished amp

A diy chassis is indeed the most demanding part ( unless of course you happen to be superdaniel ) but the reward is worth every 9x% of it

I just noticed the diy spike
