This may be a stupid question to ask, but ill ask it anyway. I am planning to use an oil bath setup to act as heat dissipation for my gainclone. Is there any type of oil that also can act as some shielding from magnetic fields or RFI? or would it have to be conductive to shield from these things (thus you cant use it as an oil bath for the gainclone)?

Wouldnt anything useful for shielding have to be conductive?
Why are you using oil for heatsinking? Oil doesnt move heat very well. Doing somthing similar to a watercooling computer setup would work much better. |

What chips are you using?
I dont think many get hot enough to need water type cooling.. You can check out Peter Daniels heat tube gainclone. It has copper pipes with capilaries to carry the vaporized coolant away and the cooler liquid back (I believe). Its not the full out water pipes, radiator, and pump, but then that requires some maintenance compared to a nice closed system. |
