Hey is t. about?
I want to hear his impressions of the SMPS version of Rudis board. I have been chopping up Rudi's bottom board in photoshop for the last few hours removing the PSU and shortening the signal path on the board bottom board. Ok its a quite day here and i am bored!!! I was just wondering whether to etch it or not. Phil |

Thanks Nuuk,
I might give it a go anyway, and to be honest i will try it with one SMPS. I would have thought that a 1amp -12v rail would be enough for an opamp, even one this beefy surely. I mean the maximum is 400 milliamps per channel so a total of 800 mill amps but thats got to be shared on the plus and the minus rails hasnt it? Phil |

I also would have thought that one SMPS is man enough for an opamp!
I know some people report an improvement with a linear supply running from a transformer that is much larger than is required but I believe that is for reasons other than the higher current supply! (Don't ask)

But you can increase and increase and have no change. But once you go WAY over what is considered adequate, only then do you start to hear a difference but sadly it is so small that it really isn’t worth the money you send to get there. But if you have the option to do so, by all means go ahead. |
