Default Help needed with old Sanyo STK chip amp please

Hey guys, i`ve just got hold of a pair of rare Sony Electrosatic hybrid active speaker with motional feedback on the mid/bass unit, can you guys help out with info upgrading the the old STK401-100b chip that`s used in each speaker, they use half for the mid/bass 60watt and the other half 60watts for the ESL pannel, it also has 2500v power supply for the eht.
From what i`ve found on the net the stk401-100 is an old amp and i`m hoping that there is a better sounding stk that could be a direct drop in replacement. ( here`s wishing) Sorry guys i know nothing about chip amps.
Im normaly into tubes, but also an esl nut formost, and i just love these little Sonys.

Cheers George

G'day George

When are you coming to visit me, just head down the M5, via the Eastern Distributor and after peak hour traffic it's a breeze. Much fat to chew over plus equipment here to sample, even a decent bottle of red or white, got 'high altitude' Canberra wines from a trip down there. Good stuff!

As for the STK, not even in the same league, period. It may not be a drop-in replacement but worth the extra effort and equipment surgery required to make them fit. Jaycar sells LM3875 for A$14.95 and Electus under A$10 ($100 min order). If +/- supply is no higher than 42V (absolute max), I'd go for it.

Want to sample it in a good system and excellent room with an astonishing source (you haven't heard it)... you know where to come.

And oh... these little critters love a tube frontend.

Joe R.
