I just ordered one of these for my NS900 (AD8065):
http://www.lcaudio.dk/com/index.php?page=5 Do you know what are the basic differences between AD8065 and 8066? |

They are great opamps, probably the real top now. But - they are very very sensitive to capacitive load. So follow the datasheet recommendations and separate every cable, even as short as 10 cm, by resistor in series with opamp output. Direct replacement for older opamps in a socket may bring oscillations. |

Hmm... Knowledge comes with pain...
How about the LCaudio module. Is there something that helps to prevent any oscillation. The attachment is a picture of the players analog output. Any comment on that. Should I replace some parts when I replace the OPAmp with LCaudio module. Any help is greatly appreciated ! ![]() Edit: My preamp is passive 10 kohms. Any problems to be expected? http://kotiweb.kotiportti.fi/audiovideo/DIY/preamp1/ |

What type of ad8066 SOIC8 or ad8066 MSOP8 is for the NS900?I think the first. The 8066 is the dual version of 8065.Normaly the NS900 has dual opamps but the LC made a base and putted 2 8065 in one socket.

The AD8065 that I ordered earlier this week arrived today. The same week! Can't get any faster than that!
The packing was also top notch! LC Audio - Highly recommended Let's see if I can install this without smoke. Edit: I have to gripe about one thing. There was no documentation or manuals included in the delivery

Check the DC offset on the IC output, you might also be able to get away with bypassing (short) the 100 uf electrolytic output coupling caps C212 & C214. Cheap electros aren't usually considered 'sonically optimum' devices.

How is the dc offset measured?
Those caps are Nichicon Fine Gold caps. they should pretty ok, but I'm considering changing them to Black Gate caps. I don't dare to remove the caps completely Picture of the original OPA and the place where it used to be: I had to put a holder under the AD8065 to lift it above the caps. AD8065 at its new home: http://kotiweb.kotiportti.fi/audiovi...paikallaan.jpg I have to burn in the new OPA before I say anything about its sound. |
