Default Gainclone PS current?

Roughly how much current does one channel of gainclone draw using LM3875?

Has any one tried using choke in the power supply current? Would I need to put the choke on both +ev and –eg rail or just positive will do?

Is it anywhere in the spec sheet? Im guessing it draws 1 or 2 amps because people recommend about 80VA per channel.

I would like to know about the choke as well, havent seen anyone use them yet. Maybe because the cost and size needed to safely handle these amps?

thx

That explains why people are not doing it, the choke with with few henrys for such current would be large and expensive.

The current will depend on the amount of power you want to put into the speekers and their impedance too.

All will be revealed on the National Semiconductor website -- they have a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program which gives y ou the peak current values in single, bridged and parallel mode:
http://www.national.com/appinfo/audi...gn_Guide14.xls

it seems as if i have to answer this question once a week. moderator, perhaps we need an FAQ
