There >are< speakers designed to be relatively
waterproof, assuming the enclosure and wiring
are equally waterproof. The National series of
chip amps have pretty good protection circuitry,
so they should tolerate low impedance and
shorted loads.
This assumes the amplifier itself is indoors and
kept in a low-humditity environment!
