Default regulated psu for gc

Hi...

I'm designing the psu brd for the gc amp I'm planning and came up with this based on a circuit at pedjas' site...(PDF)

GC PSU

The +/-24V is for the lm3886's and the +/-15V for some INA134 balanced line receivers....

Does it look okay?

Thanks.

Looks fine to me . Why not place the 15v regs on the un- regulated dc lines. That way you can put a variety of regs with different voltages, without up setting the regulator before it..as per the current arrangement.. 24v adj supplying 15v fixed

Just a thought..

Hi...

Thanks for the reply...

I've just realised tho - the secondary on the tx is 30VAC - wont that mean then it'd be like 40+VDC hitting the vregs - the 7815/7915s are just not gonna have that..are they? Even 24V at input is too large no? mebbe a 2nd smaller tx just for the INA's would be better suited?

Cheers

That won't work. If you want the other regulators in such a setup, they can be put only after LM338s.

Hi Pedja...

Yup, thats what i thought - but is 24V into the 78's ok? Isnt the max input V for 'em rated at 17.5V?

I have the transformer already (2 infact) and will be runnin 2 channels of a single lm3886 design into 4ohm speakers from it...

Best

No, why 17.5V? Max input voltage for fixed 3-pin regulators is usualy 35V, and 40V for 7824. Though in some cases it is lower for negative regs. Simplest, check the corresponding datasheet.

hi

wonder if using bigger caps like this will help in the supply?
