hi carlos.....go ahead, just order online - it shouldn't cause you any trouble.
make shure to read the data sheet, the lt1083 needs a cap on the output (the lm338 doesn't) ........let us know how it goes.......

Ahh yes. I thought there would be a complement to the 338, apparently not.
BTW, looking at the data sheet, it seems the 338 is better than the 1086 in the higher freq range on ripple rejection and output resistance. 338 seems a good choice here, I didn't know the chip. Jan Didden

What about the LM350AT? It is only 3 amp, but unlike the LM338, it is available as a sample from National. Makes it an easier proposition to try and see how it compares to non-regulated version.
