Now that I have sorted out the transformer and the potentiometer, I need to take a look at the chassis. I have found something interesting here. I know they are not that big but since I intend to build monoblock amps, they should work OK. Has anybody seen something like this in Canada or in the US ? I have tried searching their parent offices in North America without success.

yeah...try hammond cases. they have a type that's nearly identical in a plethora of sizes. They're cheap and good looking. Available from digikey (I love digikey, best prices and quick delivery, also excelent shipping)...here are the links:

The larger from Hammond on their #1455 series looks quite good, but the height is a bit low for clearing a toroid transformer.
Height is 51.5mm, when my 300VA from Toroid would need at least six. Perhaps other toroid sizes are shallower. Carlos |

Parts Express sells this case that is 2.36" high. The toroid I'm going to use is 1.5" tall so that shouldn't be so bad. I'm also looking around town to see if I could find a few metal shops that could provide the sheet metal I'd need to build them myself. But first thing first. I've got to order Brian's kit first as well as the toroids from ApexJr and build them. Then we'll see about the case. |
