Default SMD to DIP

Hi Guys!
While trying to make a good quality multichannel amplifier, i did came across quite a few interesting chips like CS3310, QS7785, MSP430, and devices in LQFP packing, I had this weird idea what if a device is made (like mounting base of DIP chips) and SMD devices are mounted on it and it becomes a DIP CHIP, has any one come across such a mounting base.
I ll be very much interested in feedback on this.

Need slightly more specific idea, a link or URL will be appreciated as Web Querry returns significant number of results and filtering all of them takes substantial time.
I ll appreciate the help.

Thank you very much for that link! I've been looking for a cost-effective SO-8 to DIP-8 adapter to allow me to plug an OPA1462A into my MMC Pre-Amp's DIP-8, U-1 socket. The adapter, at USD 3.00, is the best value I've seen, so far!
