German journalist: looking for Gainclones for listening test

Hi

I am a HiFi-addict and whilst researching on "gainclones" I discovered this forum. As a journalist, I am always interested in new developments in the HiFi/Highend-sector. I have been browsing through dozens of Gainclone-sites now and this seems like a real interesting story to me.

Here's my question - are there any members out there, who would be willing to introduce me a bit further into the subject? I am especially interested in the "pure" gainclone, tweaked for best sound, and gainclones using tubes in the INPUT-stage (I've seen some pages around suggesting that with good results).

Furthermore, I would be more than interested in listening to these amps. I will be having one of the editors of a german HiFi-review visiting my home these weeks and I think it would be more than interesting making him too listen to a gainclone (with and without tubes, if possible).

So, if You are interested and would like to contact me, just send an email - if you live in the Stuttgart area: even better!
Of course, if you think, your gainclone is THE state of the art GC and you don't live in Germany: you can send it over, too   (US-GC'ers - I have access to a military PO-Box of a friend over here as well....) ;) ;)

Looking forward to your answers

Joerg

Best way would be to build your own. All you need is a kit from BrianGT;)

Peter

thanks for the info - I just contacted Brian and most probably will try to do that. But still I would like to keep up my post regarding german users contacting me - I do need people for interviews and/or reference about their projects. If the whole "project" turns out they way I am planning, then I would need that contact and good photos. So: if anybody would like to contact me: please feel free to do so

I tried to send you an e-mail, but it was returned. I'm aware only of one German audiophile who built GC. Here's his profile:

Building this amp with Brian kit is really easy and all you need is transformer and some small metal plates for heat dissipation. You can mount everything on piece of spruce board, like an other German audiophile is doing (of BYOB fame) ;)

Funny, I can not recall much of them either but 4.7% visitors of my GC page are coming from Germany. For the record, 4.9% are from Canada, world GC super-power. :wave2:

Best regards,

thanks - mind trying to send an email again? I entered a secondary, different email-address, in case GMX should have blocked any mails (which should not be, but who knows....)
Thanks for your info so far!

Allen Wright in Munich may have one of Joe Rasmussen's all up tube buffered gain clones -- i know it passed thru there at least on its way to getting reviewed by TNT.

You can contact Allen via hi website
