Default Why is my gainclone eating fuses?

It goes through 2 fuses about once a week. I am not running a pot with it but I try to stop the music before I turn off the amp.

Rite now I am just letting it run all the time.

You might need a soft starter or at least bigger fuses.

Some details may help!

Size of transformer, size/type of fuse, circuit used.

In my case, 400VA toroid, I had also blown fuses untill I started using bigger values (even 5A was not enough sometimes, and now 6A is what I use). The fuses were blowing because of high inrush current when powering toroid.

What's to say it's the primary fuse that blows?

We need circuit and values to diagnose properly.

try using a bigger fuse , say 2.5 or 3 ampere (slow blow). toroidal transformers cause quite an inrush current. I'm using a 2a fuse with a 225va transformer but i blow this one about once every two weeks.

You could of course use an ntc / thermistor in one of the lines powering the toroid. Sort of a very basic soft-start.

When it comes to fuses there are normally recommended values from the transformer manufactures. Think about WHY you have fuses also.

I can speak for my own sake, 600 VA and 60 000 uF can't an automatic 10 A fuse take.

The fuse in the amp is 4 of 5 AT (don't remember) at 230 VAC.

Maybe my soft starter is the solution?

I guess in 120V countries inrush current are even more, so higher fuse values apply. I can't use an amp with anything less than 5A fuse (for 400VA toroid).
