hi,
I didn't find the answer with search but it was not easy to cover everything... 1) has anyone compered dual mono version of GC against one TX version ? what was the difference in sound ? 2) I need 30-40W power to drive 88db/6 ohm (~3 ohm min. ) speakers - SF concerto home. what TX should I use ? 3) still not sure how to build a PSU for monoblock - one rect. ? or two ? is this http://home.student.utwente.nl/f.s.b...rtedLM3875.gif how you do it ? thanks in advance, yuval |

1) Strangely enough i prefer the single tramsformer. It sounds more coherent and musical to me. Apparently this involves grounding compromises but even so i prefer it.
2) Driving SF Signum i find that 350VA (2x34vdc) shared between two channels is about the minimum acceptable. 3) Two rectifiers sounds better than one to me. Using two separate transformers with the primaries in series a la Kuei sounds even better. So does the dc blocking circiut. |
