I have an old arcam amp from 2011, the avr600. It plays back audio and video files well some of the time but sometimes the sound is muffled and lacking in detail.
I am going through my hardware trying to find the problem and am pointing fingers at the arcam, i am wondering if it could it be that this old amp does not have the codecs to decode the more modern stuff. Has something about dts hd ma, dolby tru and the other formats changed over the years and the arcam is outdated. The amp is giving me loud clicks and bangs infrequently when trying to play some files, and sometimes the sound is really low, i have to put the amp onto nearly full blast just to get a reasonable volume level, whereas with the files the arcam likes 30% volume is plenty.
I am getting about 50% of files being played back well and 50% struggling.
