i made dual rail 2 peice tda 2050--working fine----separately---
----i am using a single transformer and single heatsink without insulator--
i know heatsink conected to tab -ve power----and heatsink would be live----
i arranged everything in box so that nothing gets connects to heatsink----
---------is it ok if i share 2-3 tda in same heatsink without insulator ?

also is there any easy security--for amplifier overheating or failure--so that when device fails amplifier becomes disconnected open circuit-i was thinking of thermostat or any other way--

No reason why you cant use one heat sink without insulating washers.
Except if one amp fries it will also heat up other amps.
In lateral mosfet amps the mosfets have the source as case and they leave out insulating washers as they are at the same potential voltage.
As long as heat sink is isolated from metal case this is fine.
On a 1980's amp I built I put the amp in a wooden chassis.
Then I used two heat sinks, one for NPN output transistors and the other heat sink for pnp output transistors.
This meant I didn't need isolation tabs.

you can buy temperature switches.
Either normally open or normally closed and they both come in a wide variety of temperatures.
I have 70degC N.C. that I fit to the heatsink and that turns off the mains supply if the heatsink gets too hot. But it is not latched. It will come on again when the switch cools.

No.but tda 2050 max is 150 c ------so i was thinking is it ok if i use 100 c switches ?
The heatsink will be hotter than the switch.
The case (Tc) will be hotter than the heatsink.
The junctions (Tj) will be hotter than the case.
thank you--------so you are telling i should use 70c n.c switch fot tda 2050 ?
----another weird thing----happening----
its almost a month using tda 2050--nice sound-----BUT-----
example---------last night playing amp for hours no problem----suddenly next day
when i switch on amp whether signal cable attached to pc out or not---vibrating shaky
sound coming out when i touch speakers they are vibrating without any signal applied but sounds ok when i play songs---------again on next day when i switch on amp its silent no vibrating everything works perfectly-------these events occurs randomely----weird-------
-----few people might say its--- hum --but why speaker vibrates when i touch them without signal--that means power is directly send to speakers without signal ?
--------i have not changed any wire or other thing from amp box or anything nearby are as it was earlier----in my area electric supply ac voltage varies a little bit like in summer 230 v ac in morning and at night 245 v--sometimes-----------using 2 tda 2050--16-0-16 v transformer--2 caps--2200uf/50v for each rail--after rectification filtration shows 22.5-0-22.5 v--circuit exact from datasheet soldered properly--no other issues playing for a month--------------
---updates---wow just now playing no vibrating--so throughout day it hapeen randomely--LOL---

even a 70degC switch will let the amp get VERY hot if there is some abuse.thank you--------so you are telling i should use 70c n.c switch fot tda 2050 ?...............
You might want to try that and then try a 60degC, or even a 50degC switch to see hot hot the chipamp gets before the switch finally turns OFF.
Do you have a speaker isolating relay fitted?..................

If that were opening/closing rapidly (due to detecting some fault) then the driver will vibrate at sub audio frequencies.
thank you----actually i have thermometer digital( upto 110 c)--but where should i put it nearby ic in heatsink or tab of ic cannot understand because thermometer probe is like this ?

-----no relay is connected simple tda 2050 amp connected to 3 way passive crossover (inductor capacitor)inside 3 way tower speaker-----------
everyday this problem happens but goes away also suddenly------i am nervous should i play amp at this condition-----------{ when i switch on amp whether signal cable attached to pc out or not---vibrating shaky
sound coming out when i touch speakers they are vibrating without any signal applied }
------woofer vibrating tweeter very mild noise ----------
------------still guessing could not find out reason -------

updates---WEIRD----in morning today problem occurred same type---switched it off for 15 min--------now again no problem--no vibration working normally----------i am going crazy---------

i have this circuit from datasheet------------dual rail --
http://www.st.com/content/ccc/resou...df/jcr:content/translations/en.CD00000131.pdf
---------soldered properly-------acc to datasheet-------
yes actually this problem happened earlier------so i resoldered 22 kohm resistor problem resolved---so at that time i soldered very much properly-----------
this problem happening now only in one board other works fine-----
i also had this doubt of 22 kohm resistor----
----anyways----------if i play the amp in this condition-------where vibration there-------
is there any danger of damage ?
