Hi, I have a TLO84/TL074 based phono preamp that I've been upgrading. I already switched in 1% metal fiml resistors along with polypropeline caps.
Long story short; what's a good replacement for the TL074/TL084 OP-AMPs? |

Are they quads? OPA4134
Is the power supply good? Bypass V+/V- to ground with 0,1uF film caps close to the pins... Others might recommend others types... good luck tom |

The idea is to simply remove the IC and drop in another one. I don't have space on the board to squeezy anything else in there. Unfortunately the OPA4134 isn't available in 14-DIP any more. I experimented by using 2X OPA4132 and the results were fair. The sound was very transparent, but didn't have as much bottom end as the TL084 did.
So, yes this is a quad and I'm still hunting for a 14-DIP replacement. Thank you. |

Hello
Try this page, it's a supplier in Sweden: http://www.elfa.se/elfa/produkter/en/2017378.htm Isn't it the SO14 your looking for? Look here: http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folder...icingpackaging Cheers, Tom |

OPA4227 and OPA4228 come in DIP-14 per the TI datasheet. The "7" is optimised for unity gain while the "8" for gain>5. Both clain very low noise and distortion. They have limits on current seen at the input but I doubt that would be a problen when the source is a phono cartridge.
I'm sure there are other possabilities but these just now came to mind. |
