Is there any problem leaving a heatsink floatint at -V on a non-isolated chip if the heatsink does not touch anything, nor is in danger of touching anything or arcing to another part? Thanks.
I never use insulation pads, no problem with it... But: I mostly use wooden enclosures... If you choose a metal case you should really insulate it right, but I guess you know!
I never use isolation pads either bu i use hammond enclosures (metal). What i do is to isolate the H/S (a .7-1.5 lb gold plated brass bar) on a poly C pad.And i use another poly C bar as a pressure bar to keep the load of the chip even.
