Live!Value's Output Level?

Does anyone know that? In fact the real question is; Do I need a preamplifier to drive a TDA2052 gainclone with Sound Blaster Live!Value? Without a preamp does TDA2052 give real 40W?

I can get about .9V rms out of my SB live, and I'm sure you would be somewhere around there too.

I would think that’s plenty to drive an amp.

You can calculate how much in volts you need based on the gain of your amp and the load impedance.

Vout=sqr(P*Rload)
Vin=Vout/A
A is the AC voltage gain of the amp. (Rf/Rg)

For example:
P=40W and Rload=8Ohm
Vout=17.9V
for a gain of 22
Vin=0.813V
It means that the amp with 0.9 V from the SB will drive the speaker to a little more than 40W

My TDA2052 gainclone's gain is 22K/680ohm.. So you say its enough?

More than you need:

gain: 22k/.68k=32
Vout= 32x0.9=29Vac
Pout=29x29/8=100W
