Last month, I updated most of my webpages. I am happy to announce the new Chill-amp non-inverted chip-amp page!!!
Have a look at: http://www.fedde.tk Fedde

Nice Job! I made something similiar except I used LM3886s because that's all I had.

Since last week, also DIY kits and PCB's are available!

Hi Fedde, nice board and very tight layout. No silkscreening is also an advantage. I bet it sounds very close to 47Labs board, as it looks similar
Are you using any additional mounting holes, you have enough space on the board.I will finish mine soon. Yesterday, I tried an isolated chip package and I had a feeling it sounded smoother than an uninsulated. Maybe that's one secret to the organic sound of GainCard?

Thanks for your compliments
I must admit that the layout is a tiny bit inspired by the (supposed!) 47 Labs design I have 30 LM3875TF's here in a tube for the kits, so I might try them soon! Still, maybe the difference is due to the lack of burn-in !? Fedde

The one that was less burned in (actually brand new, comparing to the one used for few days), seemed to sound better (in insulated case).

That was quick
Still, it could be that a burned-in LM3875 sounds more tighter but also less smooth... Fedde

It could be, but I would also be interested what others observed regarding that. It seems like only very few people used an insualted case, but 47Labs are also using such package (as seen in the pictures). Maybe, after all, there is more to it than only heat transfer issues?

I wonder if it would be possible to use a pressure loading bar across the board? Maybe cut away part of the board that was overhang?
I have tried many mounting methods and so far the pressure bar works best (for me). It appears to give better heat transfer and also stabilizes the chip when loaded to a large low resonance mass.I still have about 15 of the T versions left. ron |

That is an excellent idea. You could press the PCB to the chip by the bar!
I chose the LM3875TF because I didn't want that people building my kits would burn some components due to short-circuits between the ground and the chip (at -Vdc)! It's better fool proof (and you don't have to buy pads). It would be nice if it even sounds better ![]() Fedde
